Master DJ Techniques - Insights From Rich Pitonyak & Jason Jones on Mixer Skills | #DJNTV

DJNTV’s (Disc Jockey News TV) Mobile Music Thursday with DJ Jason Jones features mobile DJs from around the country who are playing weddings, schools and bars to find out how and what they play and when they play it. This week Mobile Music features Richard Pitonyak, long-time Wedding DJ specialist and owner of RPM Entertainmen t in Vermont.

In this new video segment Richard explains how he ‘reads the room’ during cocktail hour and/or dinner to make music selection decisions for the remainder of the event. One of his more unique tips is to scan the room and look for who’s lip-syncing (or tapping their toes) and to what song. Richard also almost always starts with a slow dance track after spotlight dances, mainly because he finds guests are more apt to hit the dance floor immediately vs when he play’s an upbeat tune.

As usual, the Mobile Music segment is a must-watch for any new Mobile DJs or seasoned veteran. Never stop learning and honing your DJ craft!
